READYBAR

Same meal bar. A storefront that finally says so.

READYBAR is a 500-calorie meal bar created by a NASA scientist. It sold on a stock Shopify theme where a 15%-off pop-up covered every page on load, thirty-five third-party hosts fired on the homepage, and the brand's sharpest claim — twice the nutrition, half the sugar — was nowhere above the fold. We moved the store to Shopline and rebuilt the storefront to the brand guidelines: one headline, one voice, a shop that merchandises six products like a range, and eight content pages that did not exist.

Where this project stands today. The Shopline storefront is fully built and live behind a preview password: a custom theme to the READYBAR brand guidelines, homepage, shop, product pages, cart and checkout, and eight content pages — About, Press, Wholesale, Benefits & nutrition, Reviews, Verify, Shipping, Contact. Launch is waiting on three legal policies from the merchant, a reviews-app decision, the subscription import and the final product-data sync. Every screenshot below is labelled with its source.

01 · Homepage

From a Pop-up to the Brand's Own Sentence

The old homepage opens with a Klaviyo modal over a stock hero. The brand guidelines say the headline is “Twice the nutrition. Half the sugar.” — two lines, Archivo Black — and it was nowhere above the fold. The new homepage opens on it, then walks the visitor through the argument: the problem, the comparison table, six flavours, who it's for, who made it, FAQ.

Before

  • 15%-off modal on load — on every page, desktop and mobile — over a hero whose H1 is empty; the pop-up itself is the page's third H1.
  • Generic hero copy (“A real meal, wherever you go” · “PRE-ORDER NOW→”); the guideline headline appears only as a marquee line far down the page.
  • Announcement bar in caps: “NOW ON BACK-ORDER — SHIPS IN ~4 WEEKS. WE SOLD OUT!”
  • 375 requests, 2.6 MB, 35 third-party hosts (Klaviyo, Judge.me, Appstle, HubSpot ×7, GOVX, GTM, Facebook, jsDelivr…); mobile TBT 580 ms.

After

  • One H1: “Twice the nutrition. Half the sugar.” — brand headline, brand font, two lines as specified.
  • Ranked CTAs: solid orange Get READYBAR (shop), outline Learn more (jumps to the why); “4.79 from 39 verified reviews” and four proof chips under them.
  • Sections in order: As seen in (linked) → The problem + comparison table → Choose your fuel (six flavours, add-to-box) → Who it's for (carousel) → Created by a NASA scientist → FAQ → newsletter footer.
  • 104 requests, 411 KB, 3 third-party hosts; TBT 20 ms; Best Practices 100.

02 · Shop

Six Products, Merchandised Like a Range

Six SKUs is a small catalogue; the job of the shop page is to make choosing easy. The old grid was six identical tiles under the modal. The new one opens with the four numbers that matter, filters by how people actually decide, and tells them where to start.

Before

  • Six tiles, one grid, availability and price facets, no badges, no guidance on where to start.
  • Two more products (single bars) exist but are reachable only from the homepage carousel — not from the shop.
  • Modal covers the grid on load; footer offers no way onward.

After

  • Shop hero with four proof tiles: 4.79★ · ~4 wks back-order · 15% subscribe & save · 20% responder discount.
  • Filter chips by use: Available now · Full meal · 500 cal · With caffeine · Under $40; sort.
  • Badges (Start here · Most popular · New · +Caffeine), macro chips, ratings and Add to box on every card; subscribe-and-never-run-out band.
  • 92 requests, 408 KB; Lighthouse Performance 95 desktop.

03 · Product Page

A Cleaner Buy Box — With Two Things Still to Land

The old product page had a lot going for it: five images, subscription pricing, reviews with photos, related products. It also loaded 453 requests and sat under the modal. The new page keeps what sold — gallery, checklist, FAQ, related — at a third of the weight. The subscription selector and the reviews block return once the merchant picks the apps.

Before

  • Five-image gallery, one-time $47.92 vs Fuel Up Monthly −20%, “Pre-Order — ships in ~4 weeks”, Shop Pay, checklist, FAQ, Judge.me reviews (5), related products.
  • Under the modal on load; three H1s (title, description headline, pop-up); Appstle and Judge.me widgets in their own styles.
  • 453 requests, 2.4 MB, 33 third-party hosts; desktop CLS 0.17.

After

  • Brand buy box: title, price, quantity, Add to cart / Buy now; gallery; description in the brand voice; checklist; FAQ; share; “You may also like”.
  • 128 requests, 552 KB, 3 third-party hosts.
  • Pending: subscription selector (subscription import + app), reviews block (app decision), pre-order label on the button, square nutrition-label images so the gallery stops changing shape. Trust-badge and accordion copy still theme defaults.

04 · Content Pages

From Three Pages to Eight

The old site had Press, About and Contact. The tech-stack brief asked for a wholesale path with agency and retail sales, and the header and footer of the new theme needed somewhere to send people. Every page below exists on Shopline through a purpose-built template — content recovered from the old site where it existed, written new where it didn't.

Before

  • Three pages: About (origin, founder, four advisors, mission, giving), Press (five outlets), Contact.
  • No wholesale, benefits, reviews, verify or shipping page; the responder discount lived in a GOVX embed on the homepage.
  • Every page opens under the same modal.

After

  • About — origin story, founder and all four advisors with real headshots and bios, mission, 1% giving; Press — five outlets with headlines and working links.
  • Wholesale — Agency Sales vs Retail Sales split; Benefits & nutrition — comparison table + FAQ, the deep-info home so the homepage can stay simple.
  • Verify (20% responder discount), Shipping, Reviews (brand-approved quote only until an app is chosen), Contact.
